Lemon is the most versatile oil that I use in my home. Literally we use it for everything! Cooking, cleaning, diffused, topically, for sickness, concentration, and even to aid in weight loss.
I like to start off our day by diffusing Joy and Lemon. 2-3 drops of each helps us to start our day on a good note and find focus from our groggy minds. However, when it comes time for a test, and they needs to find focus, I will diffuse lemon or place a drop on a diffuser necklace for them. They know that lemon works and even will ask for it to be applied or diffused.
When allergies start in Georgia, or should I say never end since our seasons are so bi-polar, we add lemon with lavender and peppermint. Either diffused, in a capsule, or in a spoonful of local honey. If my children or myself start to have the dark circles under our eyes from stuffy sinuses, I place a drop of lemon, peppermint, and lavender on the pad of a diffuser necklace. Within 15 minutes you can visibly tell that the darkness has decreased.
When cooking, I replace concentrated lemon juice with 3-4 drops of lemon. That’s it! No artificial flavors, just a boost of pure and natural lemon. If you are cooking fish, add a drop or two to the pan per filet.
Weight Loss Trio includes Lemon, Peppermint, and Grapefruit. Lemon plays it’s part by providing Vitamin C and antioxidants to aid in digestion and cleanse.
Lastly, I will talk about lemon essential oil and cleaning, because cleaning is the last thing on my mind for uses of essential oils. 1-2 drops can be used to remove gum, grease spots, or adhesives from most surfaces. Apply a drop directly to a laundry stain and then wash as usual to remove tough stains. Place 2-3 drops of lemon essential oil to a glass spray bottle to help cleanse and sanitize surfaces.
I hope you are able to use this versatile oil in many helpful ways. Post your favorite recipe or use in the comments below!
