You know my husband, Brandon, has become a Young Living “oily” man. I have blogged about his ‘ah ha’ moment with essential oils and how he is on an oily supplement routine. And since he is okay with oils now, I totally take advantage of it and use him as my test dummy. Really, I do use him as my own personal experiment, but I do it out of love. For every opportunity that I get for him to use oils, I am reducing the amount of toxins that he is coming into contact with. I think that is a win!
So here is the most recent way that he is using essential oils.
It all began with ‘No Shave November’… I wish I could blame his giant beard on the month of November, but in all honesty, he grows this crazy full beard every winter. Usually, it drives me nuts. It’s not soft and it is so scratchy! BUT this year, I made him some awesome beard oil. My crossline friend Sarah Cook shared what her husband uses on his beard, and it’s making a great difference. I MIGHT not complain about his beard this year.
Beard Oil:
- 2 oz. Dropper Bottle
- Jojoba oil or another favorite carrier oil (I used Safflower oil)
- 12 drops of Patchouli essential oil
- 8 drops of Bergamot essential oil
- 3 drops of Lavender essential oil
- 2 drops of Cedarwood essential oil
- 2 drops of Black Pepper essential oil
Drop in your essential oils first, then fill the rest of the dropper bottle with carrier oil.
I honestly love the way this smells. You can change the Patchouli and/or Bergamot essential oils to match what scent your husband likes. I have seen Wintergreen, Citrus Fresh and Northern Lights Black Spruce. Brandon uses it 2 times a day by preference. He has a crazy, wild beard so your husband may not need more than one application.
The best part? He applies this before he leaves for work, and then hugs our children good bye. So all day long, when I hug my kids, I smell my husband. Just my hourly reminder of the man I love!
